2 Cor. 3: 18 “And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit.”
There is a particular hymn I love so much “new every morning is thy love”. It reminds me of Lam 3:22, 23 which says “It is because of the LORD’S loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, Because His [tender] compassions never fail. 23) They are new every morning; Great and beyond measure is Your faithfulness.”
God’s mercies and anointing are designed to be new every morning. In the book of Leviticus when God was talking about the fire upon our altar, He said it is to burn daily ; Lev 6: 12 “And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings.”
The fellowship God seeks with us is a daily one. Any day we come before God, He gives us the graces sufficient for that day only . It’s like adding a flammable substance like kerosene to fire. It will keep burning as long as you keep adding the kerosene. Once you stop adding that stimulant, the fire slowly dies out. Fellowship is our feul, our oil.
The problem with most believers is that they want to run on what they received on Sunday for the whole week. It’s just not possible. What you get from God is sufficient for that day. That’s why we keep “knocking” (doing things we should not, or do not want to do), because we don’t have sufficient oil.
Remember what Jesus said in Matt 6:34; “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.’’ He said this because He’s going to be giving you the necessary strength and grace that you need to be effective for a day, and when tomorrow comes He’ll give you another strength and grace for that day . So what happens when you don’t come before Him daily to receive the new strength and new anointing?
When Jesus was teaching His disciples to pray, he said “ Give us each day our daily bread”. It wasn’t physical food He was talking about. It was spiritual. The type that only He can give you.
We need to daily keep our fire burning. Day by day in His Presence (studying His Word, Praying) is the only way you can truly become like Him.
Do not be discouraged if you’re not yet where you want you be. It’s going to take a while. A day here, a day there. So don’t give up on your fellowship with Him. The more you stay with him, the more you be like Him. Keep going and keep moving.
